| Workers from the Balkans: Unite against the offensive of the capital! |
May 5, 2007 |
The European Union continues enlarging to the East. It has already reached the Black Sea shores after accepting Bulgaria and Romania as members. It is planned that the next wave of new members will swallow the rest of the Balkans’ countries. Even negotiations with Turkey are going on in the face of the systematic violation of the Turkish people’s civic rights by its ruling elite and the cruel political terror on the communist and the other progressive organisations. Many violations of human rights are watched in the other Balkan countries, too – even in the EU members. For example in Bulgaria the proceedings against activists of the Resistance Movement “23 September” continues – their only offence being that they have stuck up posters against establishing US military bases in Bulgaria. Besides, in Bulgaria the Law for the Political Parties demands a financial deposit to allow them to take part in the elections. Because of that, the poor parties cannot take part in the elections; either for the EU Parliament or for the national central and local state power institution. The Balkans’ anti-democratic tendencies are no isolated phenomena from the economical and political development of the EU altogether. The main aim of the EU is the realization of maximum profit through wage labour’s cruel exploitation. Through its whole history the European Union preserves its class nature – only the organization and the form has changed. Nowadays the EU is acquiring all the characteristics of an imperialist power centre, in which some countries set the tone, and try to get under their rule the whole Balkan and other countries in order to create the best possible conditions for all countries’ working people’s exploitation. The EU forces on all the countries the capitalist social system, dictates the directions and forms of economic and political development. The European Union do not solve but tragically deepens the people’s numerous social, ethnic, ecological, cultural and political problems. EU turns democracy into a farce. The elections are orchestrated by the Capitalist Establishment. The result is that the “elected” in the state power institutions do neither serve nor protect the interests of the working people. Having in mind the above, we, the Coordinating Committee reject the European Union under the aegis of the capital - reject the so-called “European-Atlantic values” as a basis for co-operation among peoples. We oppose to the European Union the international solidarity of the hired labour in the fight for Socialism and Communism!
